Celebrity chef speaker Todd English was a student at the Culinary Institute of America and graduated in 1982 with honors. He began his career with Jean Jacques Rachou in New York’s La Cote Basque and then traveled to Italy where he was taught at the Dal Pescatore in Canto Sull Olio and Paraccuchi in Locando DAngello. It was here that Todd developed his style and love for Italian food. He then returned to the States at the age of twenty-five and was asked to be the Executive Chef of Michelas in Cambridge, Massachusetts. During his three year stay, he gained much notoriety and respect. Chef Todd English is a very respected and decorated chef. Todd has been noted as one of the best known restaurant brands in the nation, was named one of People Magazines 50 Most Beautiful People and has published three well esteemed cookbooks. In 1991, Todd was named National Rising Star Chef by the James Beard Foundation and in 1994 he was named Best Chef in the Northeast, he was also named to the James Beard Foundations Who’s Who in Food and Beverage in America.
Currently Todd English is the chef and owner of Olives, located in Charlestown, Massachusetts. Olives opened its doors in 1989 and has since drawn much attention for its Mediterranean cuisine. In more recent years, Todd has opened other ‘Olives’ locations around the world: Olives New York, Olives Las Vegas, Olives DC, Olives Aspen, and the most recent location, Olives Biloxi in the newly refurbished Beau Rivage Resort and Casino. The original Olives was voted Best New Restaurant by Boston Magazine, Best Food, Top Table by Gourmet Magazine, and constantly named Boston’s #1 Favorite Restaurant. Another restaurant of Todd’s is Fig, which has two locations, one in the Boston area and another in the LaGuardia Airport in New York City. Fig’s cuisine consists of a variety of pizzas and delicious handmade pastas and was awarded the Hot Concept award from Nations Restaurant News. Tuscany, an Italian inspired restaurant which pays respect to his Italian roots, is located at the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut. Bonfire restaurant is a steakhouse in Boston which celebrates the ranch style cooking from the U.S. to Australia. Todd’s first seafood restaurant, KingFish Hall, is located in Boston’s Historic Faneuil Hall, while his second seafood concept which opened in 2003, Fish Club, is waterfront at the Seattle Marriott. KingFish Hall was awarded Best of Boston by Travel and Leisure Magazine.The Cunard Lines Queen Mary 2 welcomed his next restaurant, Todd English and Orlando is host to BlueZoo. His first French restaurant, Riche, was opened in 2006 in the heart of New Orleans and serves bistro classics. Todd entered the nightclub scene with a jazz club (528) at Harrahs, right near his French bistro-Riche.
Todd was on the national public television series, Cooking Under Fire, Cooking in With Todd English, Iron Chef USA, Martha Stewart Living, Food Networks Opening Soon, Bobby Flays Food Nation, The Main Ingredient, Good Morning America, the Tony Danza Show, Extra, CBS This Morning, Live with Regis and Kelly, The Today Show, VH1’s My Coolest Years, Discovery Channels Party Planners, B Smith Style, Great Chefs of the Northeast, and Fox and Friends. In January of 2007, Food Trip aired on PBS. This series incorporated travel and cooking. Todd also helped his daughter, Isabelle open up her own cupcake store; Isabelle’s Curly Cakes in Boston. Chef Todd English has three cookbooks, The Olives Table, The Figs Table, and The Olives Dessert Table. Todd debut his cookware and lifestyle products in 2005 on the HSN network called ‘English Collection’, and broke electronic retail records in the house ware category. Also in the same year, he served as the Executive Celebrity Chef for MTV’s Video Music Awards in Miami. Todd is recently the endorser of Anheuser-Busch’s new Michelob Brand, ‘The Gourmet Lager’. He was recently at The Luckyrice Grand Feast –an Asian-food lover’s paradise, where he joined celebrity chef’s masaharu Morimoto and Daniel Boulud. He, Barbara Lynch and Emeril Lagasee all made it on a list of the 25 Most Successful Chefs in America in 2011. He is available for public speaking, cooking demonstrations and hosting.
