One Day at a Time debuted in 1975 and 15 year old celebrity speaker Valerie Bertinelli played a tomboy in the show. After the end of the show, Valerie went on to star in various TV movies and mini-series including Sydney, Café Americain and Touched By An Angel opposite Roma Downey and Della Reese.

Struggling with weight her whole life, Valerie Bertinelli became the spokesperson for the Jenny Craig weight loss program and appeared in commercials alongside Kirstie Alley. In 2010, she guest co-hosted on ABC’s The View and she also starred in the TV Land series, Hot in Cleveland, which just saw its series finale in June 2015.
