Social activist and motivational speaker for hire Alexis Jones is an incredibly empowering individual whose early career in entertainment eventually led to a larger calling to help others. She first earned her bachelor’s degree in international relations and masters degree in communication management from the University of Southern California (USC). Alexis went on to host her own red carpet show in addition to working at Fox Sports and ESPN. Many people may recognize her as a contestant from the CBS series Survivor on which she appeared in 2008.
During college, Alexis founded her first non-profit I AM THAT GIRL. The organization works with a mission to transform the lives of young girls by turning self-doubt into self-love despite 21st century stereotypes of the perfect woman. I AM THAT GIRL gives girls the tools they need to be a leader in their communities with confidence and compassion. The organization has now grown to operate over 175 chapters around the world. In 2014, Alexis published a book inspired by her work with young women titled I Am That Girl: How to Speak Your Truth, Discover Your Purpose, and #bethatgirl.
Recently, Alexis was asked to give a speech to the top 18 high school quarterbacks in the country for Elite 11, an ESPNU TV show. This sparked another idea. What if she could empower women in turn through the empowerment of young men. Thus, her latest non-profit ProtectHer was born. This new non-profit works to redefine the narrow definition of “manhood” by teaching them to respect the women/girls in their lives.
Outside of her non-profit crusade, Alexis has acted as a keynote speaker for a number of organizations and companies including the United Nations, Girls Scouts of America, Nike, ESPN and NASA. She is one of Fast Company’s Female Trailblazers and ESPN’s Pop Culture’s Top Ten. Alexis is also credited for organization the first ever TEDx Austin Women’s Conference which took place in 2013.
