Steve Case

Business speaker Steve Case is an American business man best known as the co-founder and former CEO of America Online.  Case was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii but attended college in Massachusetts at Williams College.  After graduation he worked in marketing for a variety of companies including Proctor & Gamble and Pizza Hut.  He eventually got set up working for Control Video Corporation, a company that allowed users to download games with a modem and a phone line.  This was Case’s first foray into the internet, something that would make him a fortune in the near future.

In 1991, business speaker Steve Case formed AOL from the remnants of Quantum Link.  The new company helped people log online and it also pioneered social media by focusing on chat rooms, instant messages and forums.  After a decade of quick growth, AOL acquired media giant Time Warner in 2001, creating one of the world’s largest media, entertainment and communications companies. The $164 billion acquisition was completed in January 2000 but quickly ran into trouble as part of the dot-com recession, compounded by accounting scandals. Case announced his resignation as chairman in January 2003, although he remained on the company’s board of directors for almost three more years.

After his resignation at AOL, Case still remained active in the business world investing in Living Social and Zipcar.  According to Forbes, Case is worth an estimated $1.3 billion making him the 341^st richest person in America.  Steve Case donates his fortune to a variety of causes including education and healthcare.  Steve Case is available for speaking engagements, hosting and corporate appearances.
