Sports Speaker and NFL Quarterback Robert Griffin III is the former 2nd overall pick of the Washington Redskins in the 2012 NFL Draft. Robert had an extremely successfully rookie campaign and led the Redskins to NFL Playoffs in his first season as starting quarterback. The team lost in the NFC Wild Card game, however, and Robert suffered an injury to ligaments in his ACL and LCL. During the 2012 season, he was named the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week Award seven times, won the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award, and was selected to the Pro Browl.
In college, Robert was a standout performer with the Baylor Bears. In his junior year, he totaled 4,145 yards of total offense and 30 total touchdowns but the team finished the year with mediocre overall record of 7-6. Robert returned his senior year to shatter expectations and lead the Bears to a 10-3 record and a bowl victory against the University of Washington. After amassing nearly 5,000 total yards of offense and 47 touchdowns through the air and on the ground, Robert was named a Consensus First-Team All-American and winner of the 2011 Heisman Trophy Award. He was the first Baylor Bear to ever win the award.
