Golden Globe Award winner for Best Actor in The Aviator, Leonardo DiCaprio began his acting career appearing in TV commercials and landing roles in the soap opera, Santa Barbara and TV show Growing Pains.

Leonardo’s film debut came in the sci-fi horror Critters 3 and he received high praise for This Boy’s Life. Other supporting roles that he earned honors for include: What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Marvin’s Room, The Basketball Diaries, and Romeo + Juliet. His first international fame came from his role as Jack Dawson in Titanic.

Beginning in 2000, awards kept coming in from his roles in Catch me if You Can, Gangs of New York, The Aviator, Blood Diamond, The Departed, Revolutionary Road, Shutter Island, Inception, Django Unchained, and The Great Gatsby. In 2014, Leonardo starred in Wolf of Wall Street, which earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy and his fourth Academy Award nomination for acting. Most recently, he was cast in the upcoming movie The Revenant, set to release January 2016. Aside from acting, Leonardo DiCaprio owns a production company called Appian Way Productions, credited with producing Gardener of Eden and Orphan.

He is very well known for being an environmentalist, as he opts to fly commercials rather than fly in private jets, drives hybrid cars and solar panels on his home. He has donated $35,000 for a Leonardo DiCaprio Computer Center, has worked with 24 orphaned children from the SOS Children’s Village while filming Blood Diamond, and has donated $1,000,000 to relief efforts in Haiti. Leonardo is passionate about the Wildlife Conservation Society and the Animal Legal Defense Fund’s campaign.
