Joe Gebbia

Business Speaker Joe Gebbia is a designer who co-founded and is now the Chief Product Officer of Airbnb. Gebbia is often praised for his expertise in designing for the best human experience.

After graduating college, Gebbia moved to San Francisco to begin working at Chronicle Books. In 2007, he and his roommate, Brian Chesky, both quit their jobs and were looking for a way to make money. They decided to rent out air mattresses in their apartment to attendees at a nearby conference for extra cash and the concept of Airbnb was born.

Nathan Blecharczyk joined the team soon after, becoming the third co-founder, and they spent the next year looking for investors. This first round of seed money eventually was given to the three co-founders by Paul Graham. From there the business took off and is now in 30,000 cities and over 192 countries worldwide

For his work with Airbnb Joe Gebbia has been named to BusinessWeek’s “Top 20 Best Young Tech Entrepreneurs, Inc. Magazine’s “30 Under 30” and Fortune’s “Forty-Under-Forty”.

Gebbia also recently delivered a TedTalk regarding his mindset into how he designs Airbnb for customer trust.
