Celebrity Speaker George Lopez is an American actor, comedian and talk show host who first became famous with his self produced ABC sitcom George Lopez. Lopez was born in Los Angeles, California to Mexican American parents. He was eventually abandoned by both of his parents and was raised by his grandmother. Lopez started his career as a radio host, hosting one of the biggest morning shows in Southern California.
In 2000, he was approached by Sandra Bullock to produce and star in his own sitcom on national TV. Bullock was worried that most Hispanics were getting a bad rap on primetime TV. In 2002, The George Lopez show aired on ABC and was widely popular lasting for six seasons. After the shows cancellation it still ran on multiple TV stations in syndication.
In 2009 it was announced that Celebrity Speaker George Lopez would host his own late night show which would air on TBS. The show had a rough time getting viewers and was eventually canceled in 2011. Besides his work on TV, Lopez has also been featured in many films and has written two autobiographies. George is a two-time host of the Latin Grammy Awards and co-host of the Emmy Awards.
