Celebrity Speaker and Environmentalist Erin Brockovich played a large role in closing the highest grossing direct action lawsuit in history against the Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) in 1996. The popular film Erin Brockovich starred Julia Roberts in the lead role and won her the Academy Award for Best Actress.
Consumer Advocate Erin worked as a file clerk for the law firm Masry & Vititoe of California when she came upon medical records pointing to problems linked to water contamination in the town of Hinkley, California. The case against PG&E settled for $333 million for the law firm and Erin herself received a $2 million bonus. She has now gone on to become the president of her own consulting firm Brockovich Research & Consulting where she has been instrumental in many other cases and environmental projects worldwide. She now works as a consultant for Girardi & Keese, the New York law firm of Weitz & Luxenberg and Shine Lawyers in Australia.
Her fame has helped her to become a host on TV with her first show airing on ABC in 2001, and it was called Challenge America with Erin Brockovich. The show was based on her journey to overhaul and rebuild a park in Manhattan. She later went on to become the host of her own Lifetime TV series Final Justice with Erin Brockovich. That TV series lasted 3 years and featured the stories of women who had stood up to injustices in their life.
Brockovich has become a highly requested speaker on the circuit and she is also a New York Times Business Bestselling author for her book Take It from Me: Life’s a Struggle but You Can Win. The book highlights key strategies and tactics to using one’s inner strength to accomplish success in whatever it is you are striving for. Erin Brockovich currently resides in California with her family and travels for speaking engagements while continuing to work on anti-pollution lawsuits.
