Elaine Griffin is a heralded interior designer and home and garden speaker whose ability to transform a room at an affordable budget has made her popular amongst many do-it-yourselfers across America today. Her portfolio of rooms decked in elegant earthy tones and warm colors highlight a career that mixes the elements of antique and modern styles. Elaine published her first book in 2009 called Design Rules: The Insiders Guide to Becoming Your Own Decorator, shedding light on the step-by-step tips and tricks that design professionals utilize to create the gorgeous rooms the public sees on home makeover TV shows and in print publications. Elaine has solidified herself as a prominent voice in her industry and was chosen as a contestant on NBC’s newest home renovation competition series American Dream Builders hosted by fellow designer Nate Berkus.
A Yale graduate, Home and Garden Speaker Elaine began her career as a publicist before getting her feet wet in the design industry working under esteemed architect Peter Marino. Eventually Elaine was ready to go out on her own and opened her design firm Elaine Griffin Interior Design in New York. She participated in the 2003 Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse and was named one of House Beautiful magazines top 100 American designers. Many may recognize Elaine from her work with Oprah Winfrey and the series of Good Works Makeover’s for O at Home.
Elaine currently works as a contributing editor of design for Better Homes & Gardens magazine and worked with a similar title as a contributing editor at Elle Décor magazine. Elaine’s decorating works has been featured in major print publications such as House Beautiful magazine, The New York Times, and Southern Accents magazine among others. She is also a recurring guest design guru on NBC’s morning special the Today Show and has appeared on The Early Show and TV Land’s Best Night In.
