Diane Von Furstenberg

Celebrity Speaker Diane von Furstenberg is a renowned fashion designer, author, and entrepreneur whose invention of the enormously popular wrap dress put her on the map as one of the world’s most successful fashion designers. A native of Brussels, Belgium, Diane attended several schools in Switzerland, Spain and England throughout her adolescence. It was after she married her husband and heir to the Fiat automobile brand, Prince Eduard Egon von Furstenberg, that she made her way to the fashion capital of the world, New York City. Diane von Furstenberg began her Fashion career in New York, starting her own manufacturing business in the early 1970’s. By 1976 Diane had sold over five million wrap dresses and revolutionized American women’s apparel. The success of her dress resulted in cover features in The Wall Street Journal and Newsweek. In 2015, Time Magazine named her to the Time 100, as an icon. In 2014, she joined the Ban Bossy campaign as a spokesperson advocating leadership roles for girls.

Von Furstenberg’s clothing designs are primarily women’s lines and have been worn by many A-List celebrities and fashion icons including Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Kate Beckinsale, Gwyneth Paltrow, Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge, the First Lady Michelle Obama, and countless others. She has also produced cosmetic lines and fragrances throughout her career. Today, Diane’s brand, DVF is a worldwide luxury brand, selling to more than seventy countries from its New York City headquarters.

In 2009, Celebrity Speaker Diane von Furstenberg published her life story titled Diane: A Signature Life. In the book, Von Furstenberg shares with readers the story of how she came to be who she is today: a successful entrepreneur and business titan, daughter of a Holocaust survivor, and proud mother.
