American professional golfer Bubba Watson breaks the mold when it comes to the PGA Tour. His wild yet uncanny ability to shape a golf shot, his fiery personality, and his enduring Christian faith make up the man that is now a 2-time Masters Tournament champion after his dramatic wins in 2012 and 2014. The left-hander won his first tournament at the Travelers Championship in 2010 and is currently ranked #5 in the world by the Official World Golf Ranking system. Aside from his life on the golf course, Bubba is an active philanthropist and has created several viral music videos with his “Golf Boys” boy band that includes fellow tour professionals Rickie Fowler, Hunter Mahan, and Ben Crane.
After growing up in the small town of Baghdad, Florida, Sports Speaker Bubba was an All-American golfer at Faulkner State Community college before transferring to the NCAA Champion University of Georgia after his sophomore year in 1999. The following year he would help lead the Bulldogs to the SEC title and decided to forgo his senior year to become a professional golfer. Bubba would later return to finish school in 2008 to set an example for those that idolized him as a role model. Throughout his career Bubba has consistently been one of the top hitters on tour in driving distance and his first PGA Tour victory came in 2010 at the Travelers Championship. Including his 2 Masters wins Bubba has now won 7 tournaments on tour and seems to only be improving with time.
Bubba’s emotional Masters win in 2012 was just one week after he and his wife and former UGA women’s basketball player Angie Watson adopted their first child Caleb. That same year he created the Bubba and Friends Drive to a Million campaign to raise money for various charities including children’s hospitals, food banks, and the Angie Watson Women’s Basketball Scholarship at UGA.
