Diana Nyad is a Sports Motivational Speaker best known for her successes in swimming unthinkable distances in treacherous seas. She has broken numerous world records in distance swimming and has been named the greatest long-distance swimmer in the world. Her greatest accomplishments include completing a 102 mile swim from North Bimini, Bahamas to Juno Beach, Florida and in 2013, at age 64, being the first confirmed person to swim from Cuba to Florida without a protective shark cage. This achievement earned Diana Nyad the world record for distance swimming in open water for both men and women. A few years after this swim, Diana was inducted into the United States National Women’s Hall of Fame and became an International Marathon swimming Hall of Fame Honoree. Throughout her career, Nyad has appeared on such shows as Saturday Night Live, ESPN, Good Morning America, The Today Show, ABC World News Tonight with Diane Sawyer, and many more. The author of three books, Diana’s bibliography includes her first published work, Other Shores, which is the story of how Diana came to be called the greatest long-distance swimmer in the world. Her second book was entitled Diana Nyad’s Basic Training for Women, and offers a 30-minute a day fitness program for women. Her third book, Boss Of Me: The Keyshawn Johnson Story, is the biography of NFL player Keyshawn Johnson. As a journalist, Diana Nyad has appeared as a sports broadcaster on several networks including Fox, ABC, and National Public Radio. In 2013, her independent documentary, The Other Shore, released. She has also written contributing pieces for publications including Newsweek magazine and the New York Times.
