Portuguese-native, world soccer star and Sports Speaker Cristiano Ronaldo plays for the Spanish La Liga club Real Madrid. He is the captain of the Portuguese National team and became the highest-paid player in soccer history after moving from Manchester United to Real Madrid.

Cristiano Ronaldo began his career for the youth team, Andorinha before moving to Nacional and to Portuguese Sporting Clube de Portugal. Here, his talent caught the attention of Sir Alex Ferguson who signed the 18 year old to a deal in 2003. He began the first player to win all four main PFA and FWA awards and won the Champions League with Manchester United, was named best forward and player of the tournament and was the competition’s top goal scorer. He holds the record for the most goals scored in a UEFA Champions League season.

Cristiano was the first Portuguese player to tally 50 career goals in international competition and is the country’s all-time leading scorer. Cristiano is a world icon, and according to Forbes he had the fifth-highest social media rank in the world in 2012.
