John Sculley

American businessman, investor and entrepreneur John Sculley is well-known as one of the leading experts in marketing and technology innovations in the past few decades. Business Speaker John is largely responsible for PepsiCo’s enormous rise in popularity during the 1970’s and would eventually become the company’s youngest president in 1977. He would leave PepsiCo a few years later for a new opportunity as the marketing visionary for Apple when the company was in its early stages and beginning to generate a buzz. Since his time at these two powerful companies, John has continued to stay involved with start-ups and third-wave companies as an advisor and motivational business speaker.

John spent his undergrad at Brown University and would log his MBA at Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania. He began as a trainee at PepsiCo in 1967 before moving on to become the youngest vice president of marketing. John was committed to building a better experience for the consumer and figuring out new and creative ways to peak consumer curiosity about his products. He is responsible for some of Pepsi’s first consumer research studies and also initiated the Pepsi Challenge which still exists as a major marketing campaign for the company each year. As aforementioned he would ascend to the position of president of PepsiCo before accepting an offer from Apple and Steve Jobs to become the computer company’s new president. From 1983-1993, John is credited among other things for boosting Apple’s sales from around $800 million to $8 billion. In 2014, John co-founded Obi Mobiles, a smartphone brand aimed at the emerging markets.

Business Speaker John published a book about his time at the two industry leading companies titled Odyssey: Pepsi to Apple, and he would eventually form his own investment firm with his brothers Arthur and David. He has invested in and advised a number of billion dollar companies including MetroPCS, Buy.com, and Hotwire.com. His latest venture is Zeta Interactive, a data-driven marketing firm and he is also actively involved with tech companies looking to make advancements in the health care industry.
